ISLAND OF THE SUN

The Island of the Sun project reconstructs the sacred Inca precinct and solar markers on the Island of the Sun in Lake Titicaca, Bolivia. The sacred rock at the center of the precinct was the mythical birthplace of the sun and attracted pilgrims from throughout the Incan empire. The simulation is intended to facilitate tests of the solar alignment of buildings, monuments, and features of the precinct. The model represents the site ca. 1500 AD.
