Fikret Yegül is a Professor in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture. He has published widely on Roman architecture and urbanism. His book, Baths and Bathing in Classical Antiquity received the prestigious Alice Davis Hitchcock Prize. An active member of the Harvard Sardis Archaeological Expedition he is finalizing a two-volume book on the Temple of Artemis which will include many of his original drawings. In addition, Professor Yegul writes about post-antique architectural developments, including the book Gentlemen of Instinct and Breeding: Architecture at the American Academy in Rome, 1894-1940, and recent articles on the intersection of classical architecture and modernism. His current research explores the potent and politically charged interaction of archaeologists, collectors, and diplomats active in Asia Minor in the period around World War I. yegul@arthistory.ucsb.edu
